Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup fresh or frozen blackberries frozen recommended for a thicker texture
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt non-fat or full-fat, as preferred
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice about 1/2 a medium lemon
  • 1 tsp lemon zest finely grated
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup optional, adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp chia seeds optional, for added fiber
  • 1 cup ice cubes omit if using all frozen fruit

Notes

Storage: This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately. If you must store it, pour into an airtight jar, leaving minimal air space, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir vigorously before drinking as separation will occur. Make-Ahead: Pre-portion the blackberries, lemon zest, and other dry ingredients into freezer-safe bags or containers. In the morning, simply dump the contents into the blender with the liquid ingredients. Variations: Substitute blackberries with mixed berries, raspberries, or blueberries. Use coconut yogurt for a dairy-free version. Add a handful of spinach for a green boost without altering the flavor significantly.
