Ingredients

  • 1 can full-fat coconut milk 13.5 oz can, well-shaken
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or oat milk
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder Dutch-processed for richer flavor
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or agave nectar, adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 2 oz dark chocolate chips or chopped bar, at least 70% cocoa

Notes

Storage: Best enjoyed fresh. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave, whisking well. Make-Ahead Tip: Prepare the base (without chocolate chips) up to 2 days ahead. Reheat and add chocolate chips when ready to serve. Variations: Add a pinch of cinnamon or a dash of chili powder for a Mexican-style twist. For a peppermint version, add 1/4 tsp peppermint extract. For a richer drink, use 1 cup of coconut milk and omit the almond milk.
