Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup dried hibiscus flowers also known as Flor de Jamaica
  • 4 cups water divided into 2 cups for steeping and 2 cups for dilution
  • 0.75 cup fresh lemon juice about 4-5 large lemons
  • 0.66 cup honey or agave nectar for a vegan option
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract adds a smooth aromatic finish
  • 1 sprig fresh mint for garnish
  • 1 lemon lemon slices for serving garnish
  • 2 cups ice cubes for immediate chilling

Notes

Storage: Keep refrigerated for up to 5 days. Make-ahead: You can freeze the hibiscus concentrate in ice cube trays to prevent dilution when serving. For a sparkling version, replace the final 2 cups of water with chilled sparkling mineral water just before serving.
